Summary of Exodus 5
Pharaoh refuses to acknowledge the God of the Israelites and denies Moses’s and Aaron’s request to let their people celebrate a festival to honor their God. Pharoah accuses Moses and Aaron of stirring up trouble and insists the Israelites continue their brick-making labors.
To make matters worse, Pharaoh removes the straw previously provided for the bricks, forcing the Israelites to find their own materials while maintaining their production quota. This new hardship creates tension and frustration among the Israelite leaders.
