After receiving a report from Tattenai, governor of the Trans-Euphrates region, and Shethar-Bozenai, an official, King Darius of Persia investigates the legitimacy of the project. A search through the archives uncovers the original decree by King Cyrus authorizing the temple’s construction.
Encouraged by this discovery, Darius issues a new decree reaffirming Cyrus’s permission and even mandates financial support for the project from the royal treasury. The decree forbids any interference and stipulates that the governor must provide whatever materials are needed to complete the temple.
