Summary of Jonah Chapter 1

The chapter opens with God calling Jonah to travel to Nineveh, a city known for its wickedness, and proclaim a message against them. Instead of obeying, Jonah disobeys God and boards a ship sailing towards Tarshish, a city far away from Nineveh.

In response to Jonah’s disobedience, God sends a powerful storm that threatens to destroy the ship. The terrified sailors cast lots to identify the cause of the storm, and the results reveal Jonah as the culprit.
