In Genesis 8, the floodwaters begin to recede after 150 days. God remembers Noah and causes the wind to blow, driving back the waters. The ark comes to rest on the mountains of Ararat.
Forty days later, Noah cautiously sends out a raven, which returns because it cannot find dry land. He then sends out a dove, which returns with an olive leaf, indicating the presence of land. After sending the dove out again and receiving confirmation of dry ground, Noah and his family disembark from the ark.
