Summary of Esther Chapter 2

Following the banishment of Queen Vashti, King Ahasuerus seeks a new wife. Beautiful young women from throughout the kingdom are brought to the palace to undergo beautification treatments and be presented to the king.

Esther, following Mordecai’s instructions, keeps her Jewish identity hidden and wins favor with the king’s eunuch Hegai who supervises the women. When her turn arrives, she requests nothing beyond what Hegai advises, further impressing the king and ultimately winning his heart.
